Sixth Floor
Metabolic Kitchen
The renovation of the 6th floor will include the addition of a metabolic kitchen. This will be an industrial-sized facility with professional-grade equipment that is staffed by registered dietitians who will design, prepare, and package meals for each research study based in our department. The metabolic kitchen is designed to be a production facility that can mass produce menus and meals for large studies.
Teaching Kitchen
The updates will also include a teaching kitchen. This space will be used for many different audiences of learners. This can range from students in any of our Nutrition Sciences programs to community members who are living with chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes. The kitchen will have state-of-the-art audio/visual technology for multimodal learning and research. It will also be designed so lectures can be delivered in a virtual setting and/or recorded for online learning.
