Environmental Health & Safety has launched the new EHS Assistant (EHSA) system. To ensure ease of adoption and understanding, it is rolling out in phases. During each phase, EH&S will contact and arrange an orientation followed by access to the system. Access to the system will not be granted until orientation is complete. For questions, contact EH&S at EHSASupport@uab.edu.

Adding a New Laser to Your Laser Inventory
  1. Select [PI Equipment]

  2. Click [Laser Registration]

  3. Click [Add] to add a new Laser. This opens the Laser entry/edit screen.

  4. The following categories will appear on the data entry screen:
    • Laser Registration Information
    • Service Information
    • Laser History
    • Additional Features
    • Comments
    • Laser Registration properties
    • Custodians
    • Photos & Files
  5. Enter the data available to you into the fields that are provided.

    Note: If entering photos or other files, be sure that you save the data file.

  6. Click [Save]


FOR EH&S REVIEW AND APPROVAL

  1. From the top navigation, select [Equipment]

  2. Select [Lasers]

  3. Under the “Lasers” category, click [Laser Registration Approval]

  4. Locate the line item that you wish to review. Then click “Approve” or “Deny”.

  5. A confirmation box will appear.

  6. If you click “yes”, then an email draft box will appear.

  7. Complete the required fields and then click [Send].

    Now the newly registered Laser will show on the PI’s equipment list as an approved laser.
