Who should complete this course?
Do you work with nanomaterials? If so, this training course is required. This course aims at teaching anyone working with or around nanomaterials at UAB how to work safely, stay healthy, and protect others. A copy of the completed training certificate must be maintained in the laboratory files and presented to the proper authorities upon request.
You must complete the following pre-requisites before completing the HS250 course:
· Biosafety Cabinets and Fume Hoods (BIO304)
· Chemical Safety (CS101)

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion, participants should be able to :- Define basic nanomaterial terminology.
- Classify and identify the different types of nanomaterials.
- Review and apply various control measures necessary for safe laboratory operations.
- Choose the items necessary for a nanomaterial spill kit, know how to use it, and respond properly to emergencies.
- Describe the process for proper labeling, storage, and disposal requirements of nanomaterials.
