Phone calls

For EMERGENCIES, call 911.

  • If we are unable to answer, please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as time permits.
  • Calls after 3 p.m. may be answered the following business day. For urgent sick calls after hours (evenings, weekends, or holidays), please call our on-call service at (205) 930-4001 and they will refer calls to a nurse. A trained nurse from the Children’s of Alabama Pediatric Health Information Line will call you back.
  • For routine or non-urgent matters, please call our office during business hours.
  • For privacy purposes, we cannot respond to requests by email or text.

Medication refills

  • We try to provide the appropriate number of refills for your medications. Please call your pharmacy first to see if they have a refill on file.
  • Please provide the pharmacy name and number in addition to the name of medication that you need refilled.
  • Please allow 48 hours for prescription refills.
  • Children on ADHD medications require follow-up visits every 3 months in order to have medications refilled.

Forms/letters

  • Please notify staff at the beginning of your visit if you need any forms or letters. You must fill out all of the pertinent information on your form, including your child’s name and DOB, before giving it to us.
  • Incomplete forms will be returned back to you to complete before we can complete our part.
  • Please allow 72 hours to complete forms and letters. FMLA or more comprehensive forms take longer.
  • Your child’s yearly checkup/physical must have been done within the past 12 months to get a form/letter.

School/work excuses

    • Excuses will ONLY be given for days that a patient was seen in the clinic, or for a parent phone call on the same day of illness if approved by a provider.

Consent

    • If the parent or guardian cannot bring the patient, please be sure to send written documentation giving permission to an accompanying adult.
