At the UAB Lifespan Down syndrome program, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome through comprehensive, lifespan-oriented care. We are dedicated to following best practice guidelines to ensure optimal health and well-being at every stage of life.
Our clinic strives to be a pivotal resource hub, connecting individuals, caregivers, and community resources to foster a supportive and inclusive environment. By uniting families, advocates, healthcare providers, and state resources, we aim to empower and support the Down syndrome community, ensuring that every person receives the care, support, and individualized guidance they need.
Providers available during clinic visits will include:- Physical therapist
- Medical Doctor
- Nurse Clinician
- Occupational therapist
- Clinical Psychologist
- Speech Language Pathologist Audiologist
- Social Worker
What we offer
- Interdisciplinary team consultation for individuals with Down syndrome
- Recommendations for your primary medical team, school, family, and therapists.
- Referrals for further evaluations- Behavioral Assessment, Autism, Psychoeducational/ Academic assessments, and sleep studies.
- Referrals for specialty care
- Care coordination

- Pediatric Intake
- Our pediatric clinic will be the 2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-4:30 p.m.
- Individuals older than 18 years old will be seen at the UAB STEP Clinic at the Whitaker Building at 500 22nd Street South Birmingham, AL 35233
