Training Opportunities
UCEDD/LEND Training
Training opportunities are available through the Maternal and Child Health Bureau Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders training program, the University Center of Excellence on Developmental Disabilities, and graduate programs at UAB. The Civitan-Sparks Clinics can provide a unique training opportunity to different basic and clinical disciplines because of the diversity of ages, cultures, and genetic and developmental disorders seen in the clinics. In addition to the formal training programs, opportunities for individual students to observe may be arranged through clinic, program, or discipline directors.

Medical Training
Sparks Clinics are at the core of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics medical education. UAB Pediatric, Internal Medicine-Pediatric, Genetics, and Child Neurology residents rotate for a three-to-four-week block during their residency. Additionally, psychiatry residents and fellows, medical students, and nursing students occasionally choose to rotate through clinics to supplement their training programs.
