Aparna Dwivedi’s education has been rooted in the study of literature, with particular focus on multi-ethnic women’s writings. Her thesis was on the intersection of postcolonial and feminist issues in the works of Anita Desai. This interest in rhetorical constructs and the composing process has led to a particular fondness for the teaching of rhetoric and composition to first-year students. As these students enter academic discourse communities, they are challenged to become conscious participants in the creation and interpretation of texts: academic, social, cultural, and political.
