Ron Guthrie teaches freshman composition and literature survey courses. His graduate course work focused on literary studies to complement his undergraduate concentration in creative writing. Ron’s thesis examined the development of female characters in Stephen King’s novels during the first thirty years of King’s career. Ron has taught two classes on King and is looking forward to teaching other Special Topic courses in the future.

Ron is an avid reader of modern American and British literature, especially epic fantasy, science fiction, and horror. When he is not teaching, he can usually be found writing fiction or losing himself in a variety of video games. Away from campus, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their extended family of six dogs and six cats at their home in rural Etowah County.
