Education:
- Ph.D., Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia, Mathematics
I was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I started as a Physics student at Saint-Petersburg State University and first, obtained an M.S. degree in Physics. While studying Physics, I became fascinated by mathematical methods being applied in Theoretical Physics, i.e., by the area at the interface of Physics and Mathematics. This area is called Mathematical Physics. I obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Saint-Petersburg State University in 1984. My area of research is Mathematical Methods in Quantum Mechanics/Solid State Physics.
In 1995 I moved to the U.S. and joined the Department of Mathematics at UAB. I teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses. Two Ph.D. students defended their Ph.D. theses under my guidance.
