The water supplied to UAB by Birmingham Water Works (BWW) meets or surpasses the strict standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). BWW publishes an annual water quality report, which is also known as a Consumer Confidence Report, that lists all testing performed on the water along with results, including levels of contaminants, should they exist.
If you have concerns about the quality of water from a water source on the UAB campus, such as a drinking fountain, ice machine or fill station, first ensure the water source has been properly cleaned and flushed according to manufacturer recommendations. If you still have concerns about the quality of water after cleaning and flushing the source, you may submit a Maintenance Request Form.
For water quality concerns in UAB Hospital areas, please see the "Water Safety Plan" located on Compliance 360.
