UAB Facilities and UAB Financial Affairs have partnered to streamline purchasing items from Airgas and roll it into the BuyUAB website. This partnership has been successful with a pilot program of labs on campus using the process for the past several months. The process is now being launched campuswide.
In the past, orders to Airgas were placed by phone call, with no tracking ability or order confirmations. Now all orders should be placed on the BuyUAB website using a P-Card.
Purchasers will receive an order confirmation in BuyUAB, which will give them reassurance that their needs will be met. Because of this new system, UAB will be better able to track the total spend, returns of rented equipment, and more effectively estimate budgets. Additionally, the system will enable Environmental Health & Safety to better work with emergency personnel and manage the risk of hazardous materials on campus.
Facilities and Financial Affairs are working with the UAB research community to implement the transition in a phased approach. More information about the process can be found on the UAB Environmental Health & Safety website.
