Health care at The 1917 Clinic is provided through a team approach. Each patient is assigned to a team consisting of at least four members:

  • An Attending Physician,
  • An Infectious Disease Fellow (Physician) or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner,
  • A Registered Nurse, and
  • A Social Worker.

Other professionals (chaplain, counselor, nutritionist, etc.) will be assigned to the Team based on the needs of the patient.

Every patient should know his/her team members by name and be able to call the appropriate Team member when necessary.

If a patient is admitted to the hospital, it is always UAB Hospital. No other hospital is used. A separate team of hospital health workers manage the patient’s care during hospitalization and send reports to the Clinic after the patient goes home.
