Home-Based Services

Home-based services promote secure parent-child relationships and help parents provide high-quality early learning experiences in language, literacy, mathematics, social and emotional functioning, approaches to learning, science, physical skills, and creative arts.

Center-Based Services

Our Jasper center-based classroom provides responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children’s skill growth.

Both program options are aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF): Ages birth to 5.

PIPA

Our Parents in Partnership Association (PIPA) includes our parent meetings designed to help parents become advocates for their children. In addition, PIPA decides on activities and socialization events for families during the program year. PIPA is the parents’ voice in the UAB Early Head Start Program.

Socialization

With our home-based option, we have group socializations to allow children and parents to interact with other program families, using age-appropriate activities. They occur several times a month and throughout the community.

Parenting Education

Parenting is one of the most important and hardest jobs. We provide opportunities for families to meet with other parents and with our staff to promote child development using the ReadyRosie parenting curriculum.

Child Health Services

We want to ensure that every child is receiving comprehensive health care services from their primary physician.  Health services include monitoring well-child check-ups, immunizations, and dental visits.

Nutrition Services

The program works closely with a registered dietitian to assist you with any nutritional concerns you might have regarding your child.

Mental Health Services

We promote positive self-worth, respect for individual differences, and the ability to play, love, learn, and work within the home, childcare, and other environments. These all fit together to form the foundation of a mentally healthy person.  Mental health resources are also available for parents and caregivers as well.

Pregnancy

The program works with pregnant women to focus on factors influencing prenatal and postpartum maternal and infant health.  Support is provided by home visitors during weekly home visits utilizing the partners for a Healthy Baby curriculum developed by Florida State University.

Disability Services

Our program has an open enrollment policy for children of all ability levels. We individualize our services to meet each child’s needs and help to identify children who may have special needs and could benefit from intervention services.
