Dana Tucker, PhD
Dr. Tucker earned her Ph.D. from University of Iowa in Clinical and Developmental Psychology and did her clinical internship year at University of Washington in Seattle, WA. A postdoctoral fellowship in Developmental Neurobiology completed her training. She joined the UAB Psychology Department in January 1985 as an Assistant Professor. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 1988 and to Professor in 1993.
Dr. Tucker is a member of the Cancer Center, the Center for Health Promotion and the Center for Palliative Care. She holds a secondary appointment in the School of Medicine and serves as a psychologist with the outpatient Supportive Care team. She is the founding director of the Science and Technology Honors Program.

Kay Knowlton, PhD
Kay Knowlton, PhD, LPC, was born in Alabama and grew up in Jasper where she was graduated from Walker County High School in 1961. Beginning as a student at Birmingham-Southern College where she earned an AB degree in English in 1965, she worked with adolescents in youth ministry for The United Methodist Church for 15 years.
Kay's counseling career began in 1977 with a Master's Degree in Counseling from UAB and 11 years at Planned Parenthood as Director of Counseling. She began seeing private clients as well and was among the first group of Professional Counselors to be licensed in Alabama. After earning a PhD in Counseling from The University of Alabama in 1984, Kay taught the counseling practicum course in the School of Education graduate program at UAB for 10 years. She is certified as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Clinical Supervisor, and a Sex Therapist. She is a National Board Certified Counselor as well.
Kay's work with the UAB Center for Palliative Care began in 2005 as the Palliative and Comfort Care Unit opened at University Hospital. Her role as Palliative Care Counselor includes working with the Interdisciplinary Team to provide counseling/psychology service to patients, patient families, and staff in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She also teams with clinical psychologist Dr. Diane Tucker to supervise doctoral students in counseling and psychology as they work in both settings.

Sylvia Huang, PhD
Dr. Huang is Assistant Professor in the Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care at UAB. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology at University of Alabama and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Palliative Psychology and Psycho-oncology at UAB. Dr. Huang serves as Director of Psychology and Counseling Program at UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care and founded the Psycho-Oncology Counseling Residency Program (PCRP). As a licensed clinical psychologist, she provides counseling to patients and families facing serious illness and spearheads the UAB Psycho-Oncology Distress Screening and Management Program. Her interests include the implementation of system-wide best practices to improve access and quality of psychosocial cancer care, interprofessional education (IPE), health disparities, mixed-method research and trauma-informed palliative care.

Jasmine Boykin, LPC
Jasmine Boykin is an Oncology Counselor at the Hematology-Oncology Specialty Unit and the crisis counselor for the Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Radiation Oncology Clinic located at UAB. She specializes in depression and distress that is associated with oncology care. Jasmine is the first graduate of the Psycho-Oncology Counseling Residency Program.

Amber Fox, LPC
Amber Fox is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Samford University in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Counseling from UAB in 2013. Amber has worked in the mental health field for 13+ years, including 10 years of experience administering psychological and neuropsychological tests. She also has experience working with adults and adolescents experiencing addiction, grief and trauma, legal concerns including incarceration, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and family issues, as well as individuals undergoing bariatric surgery. Amber is passionate about breaking the stigma associated with mental illness and normalizing mental health treatment for all people.

Judith Igbinakenzua, RN
Judith Igbinakenzua, RN, is a Clinical Care Coordinator at the Supportive Care Clinic at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing at Lawson State Community College and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at the Doctoral of Nursing Practice Program (DNP) at UAB School of Nursing. She serves as the Nurse Coordinator and Nurse Educator for the Psycho-Oncology Counseling Program at UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care.

Heather Forbes, LPC
Heather Forbes is an Oncology Counselor. Her scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, working with serious mental illness, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, grief and trauma. She enjoys the comradery and the cohesiveness of the Palliative and Supportive Care team and is proud to work for such a great facility as UAB.
