The Environmental Health & Safety team at UAB has launched a new software solution designed to enhance safety, compliance, and efficiency across campus. The Environmental Health & Safety Assistant (EHSA) system provides a centralized portal for research safety management, allowing faculty and staff to access safety information and complete tasks efficiently.
EHSA, a comprehensive web-based system for research safety management, enables the EH&S team to better ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, streamline hazardous waste pickup, simplify chemical inventory management, and empower first responders and emergency personnel with critical information during emergencies.
The system is fully customizable with multiple modules for chemical safety, controlled substances, radiological safety, biological Safety, waste pickup, inspections, web-based training and more. To ensure a seamless transition and maximize the benefits of EHSA, EH&S is rolling out the system in carefully planned modules. We have already launched the chemical inventory and disposal management module with more soon to follow. A training session on the current chemical inventory and disposal management module can be viewed online. It is important to note that access to the EHSA System will only be granted following completion of an orientation session.
