The Environmental Health & Safety team will assign students the annual online emergency evacuation course in April. Students will receive a notification in Canvas indicating that they have been assigned the course. 

UAB is required to provide this training by both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and state and local fire codes, The online course replaces the in-person training the department previously conducted. The department moved to an online training in 2023 to better accommodate the campus community and minimize overall disruption, while helping achieve compliance across a larger audience. Specific buildings identified by Campus and Life Safety will have in-person evacuation trainings in addition to this online training requirement. The department will reach out to those groups individually as needed.
