Mentor: Dr. Andrei Stanishevsky
I started UAB as an engineering major in 2015. It wasn't until I was introduced to Dr. Stanishevsky's nanofibers lab in 2017 that I realized that I had a passion for physics and decided to pursue a dual bachelor’s in civil engineering and physics. Since then, I have been working with Dr. Stanishevsky on nanofibrous materials and their catalytic properties.
My research has sent me to technical universities in Lodz, Poland, and Liberec, Czech Republic, where I gained hands on experience in international laboratories and built collaborations that I will carry for the reminder of my researching career. I also had the opportunity to work in Lodz, Poland, under the Fulbright program during the 2021-2022 academic year.
My research is supported by the NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities (NSTGRO22) program where I work with DBD plasmas for the purpose of converting CO2 into oxygen under Martian atmospheres for future goals in terraforming. I am grateful to Dr. Stanishevsky and the physics department for all of these achievements!
