The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Foot and Ankle Section is comprised of fellowship-trained, research-focused faculty that are recognized nationally and internationally.

Our surgeons provide expertise in the management of bunions and arthritis of the great toe, hammertoes, midfoot arthritis, fallen arches, hindfoot arthritis, as well as problems of tendons, fascia, and nerves, including tendinitis, tendon ruptures, plantar fasciitis, and tarsal tunnel syndrome.

The section is actively engaged in research, which is further supported by the department’s foot and ankle fellowship. The fellowship program, which has over 100 program graduates practicing across the U.S. and the globe, provides training in all aspects of foot and ankle care, ranging from detailed conservative management to reconstructive surgery in adults. UAB is the largest center in the region for total ankle arthroplasty, both primary and revision procedures, further offering our fellows and residents unmatched training in the foot and ankle specialty.
