The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Joint Reconstruction Section faculty and trainees deliver world-class, compassionate care in a community environment for patients with hip and knee arthritis.
Our Joint Reconstruction Section team is dedicated to the operative and non-operative care of patients with arthritis of the hip and knee. We are working to advance the science of hip and knee replacement through collaboration with experts in engineering, biosciences, and industry and to educate other physicians in the care of patients with arthritis.
Our surgeons are board-certified and members of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. They are actively participating in research, with particular emphasis on translational research endeavors by studying clinically relevant pathologies prevalent in the community that UAB serves through extensive clinical research.
The section also offers an Adult Reconstruction and Limb Preservation Fellowship, designed to provide extensive exposure to the evaluation and management of both primary and complex hip and knee problems, as well as additional training in limb salvage joint procedures.
