The UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Spine Section is comprised of highly regarded spine surgeons who focus on treating patients with spine issues of the neck or back.

Our Spine Section faculty have received advanced training in the treatment of spinal disorders. With decades of experience, they have devoted their careers to further research in this area and share their expertise by training residents, fellows, and other surgeons and by lecturing throughout the U.S.

The section offers a spine fellowship that is a combined adult and pediatric orthopaedic spine program offering experience in a comprehensive spectrum of spinal disorders using non-operative and operative interventions. Fellows graduate from the program with a well-rounded trainee experience, typically logging greater than 350 surgical cases during their time with the department.

As members of national medical societies, including the Scoliosis Research Society, the North American Spine Society, AO Spine of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, our physicians stay on the cutting edge of research and education.
