University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing alumna Christie Shelton, PhD, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, is serving her first elected term as board member-at-large for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).
Shelton is dean of the School of Health Professions and Wellness at Jacksonville State University (JSU). Since 2003, she has served JSU in a variety of capacities, including dean and associate dean of the College of Nursing, bachelor of science in nursing program director, co-principal investigator and nursing instructor.
In addition to her service to the AACN, Shelton has served as treasurer and member of the State of Alabama Association of Colleges of Nursing and member of the Alabama Health Action Coalition. She serves on boards for Cleburne County Hospital, the Spectrum Option and Sanctuary Home.
Shelton earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) from the UAB School of Nursing in 2009.
